Resolve lingering strike, C&S leader begs FG, ASUU
The Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Worldwide, His Most Eminence Baba Aladura Elder Dr. David Bob-Manuel, has urged the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities to resolve the lingering strike with urgency.
Elder Bob-Manuel made the call on Wednesday at a press conference to mark his fifth induction anniversary.
The leader noted in his address that the ongoing strike undermined the development of human capital and made the certificates obtained from tertiary institutions of little or no value.
He said, “Apart from insecurity, the ongoing strike by ASUU is one of the most burning issues in Nigeria. ASUU has been on strike since February, over six months ago. Such prolonged interruptions of university education undermine the development of human capital and make the certificates obtained from tertiary institutions of little or no value.
“Public universities, which were the delight of all parents, have been brought to their lowest ebb. The advancement of quality education is the bedrock of technological development for any country. It should be unacceptable for any country to allow its youths to be out of school for so long, roaming the streets and subjected to the whims of life.
“I hereby urge the Federal Government, ASUU, and all stakeholders in the educational sector to resolve the lingering strike with the urgency it demands to save this sector from total collapse. The effect of immediate resolution will positively resonate in the education sector and enhance quality learning. Let the future leaders of this country go back to school.”
Elder Bob-Manuel urged Nigerians to prayerfully choose their leaders in the forthcoming general elections.
