C&S Society Honours Capt. Abiodun Emmanuel's Legacy at 30th Memorial
Cherubim & Seraphim Society has announced plans for a grand celebration of the 30th Memorial of its founder, Saint Capt. Christianah Abiodun Emmanuel. The event, slated for December 23, 2024, will take place at the church's headquarters, 88/90 Okesuna Street, Lagos.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on December 21, 2024, at the same venue. A series of commemorative events began on December 19, 2024, with a Praise Concert tagged “Praise of the Saints.”
In the opening remarks, the spiritual head of the C&S Society, His Grace Emmanuel Babatunde Adebona, welcomed members of the press and emphasized the importance of historical accuracy. He urged journalists to conduct proper research and always reference credible sources when documenting history.
Snr. Apostle Jerry Padonu, Secretary of the Planning Committee, provided an overview of the extraordinary life and spiritual journey of Saint Capt. Christianah Abiodun Emmanuel.
Reflecting on her divine encounter in 1925, he stated: “On June 18, 1925, a remarkable event unfolded when a young 16-and-a-half-year-old Abiodun entered a 21-day trance. The phenomenon left her unable to eat or drink and confounded her family, who initially attributed her state to illness. In the midst of this confusion, Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase was called upon. Despite heavy rainfall, he miraculously arrived at Saba Court, where Abiodun lay, completely undrenched by the rain. After praying for her, the two embarked on a spiritual mission that would forever change their lives and touch the hearts of many.”
Capt. Abiodun’s visionary leadership, alongside Saint Moses Orimolade, led to the formal naming of the fellowship as "Seraphim" in September 1925. The name was later expanded to "Cherubim & Seraphim Society" in March 1926, symbolizing the inseparable bond of the celestial twin angels.
Despite challenges, Capt. Abiodun remained unwavering in her faith and commitment to the doctrines and traditions of the C&S Society. She continued to lead the society until her passing on November 26, 1994. Her burial on December 23, 1994, set the precedent for the annual remembrance.
Apostle Jerry Padonu described Capt. Abiodun as an enduring symbol of faith and service. He called on members and well-wishers to participate in the memorial events and prepare for the upcoming Centenary Anniversary of the 1925 divine encounter, scheduled for June 18, 2025.
Speaking on the state of the nation, His Grace Emmanuel Babatunde Adebona urged the government to designate a specific day for interfaith prayers. He emphasized the need for collective spiritual reflection, forgiveness, and divine direction to guide Nigeria toward a better future.
The 30th Memorial Celebration of Saint Capt. Christianah Abiodun Emmanuel promises to be a momentous occasion, uniting members to honour her profound legacy of faith, resilience, and divine mission.
