SEVEN STEPS TO WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION - Rev. Apt Adeyemi Adediran

Rev. Apt Adeyemi Adediran, was the sermoner of the just concluded Seraphim Quarterly Vigil(Night of Restoration) with the theme "WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION". The man of God spoke on the theme which was the topic of his sermon. He exposed the congregation to the revelation of Christ on the topic and gave an altar call where souls were won for Christ.
In his teaching, he  emphasized on the text of the theme, specifically the amplified version of the verse:
"So then, my dear ones, just as you have always obeyed [my instructions with enthusiasm], not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation [that is, cultivate it, bring it to full effect, actively pursue spiritual maturity] with awe-inspired fear and trembling [using serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit the name of Christ]."
He expressed that it is very paramount to build up and work out your salvation whether young or old. He also said that your status or position doesn't stop you from working out your salvation. He gave three case studies of people in the scriptures.
Firstly, he spoke about Nicodemus - a ruler of the Jew who made himself humble and dropped his ego of richness to meet with Jesus according to the book of John.
Secondly, he gave an example of Zacchaeus, a chief among the publican and a rich man. He explained that Zacchaeus made himself a monkey just because he sought to see Jesus and have an encounter with him.
Finally, he gave an example of the Samaritan woman by the river side who immediately became an evangelist in working out her salvation with Christ (John4).
The Clergy man buttressed on this particular question, ‘what are the congregation doing to workout their salvation?’ and gave seven steps in working out salvation.

  • Be Born Again: According to John 3: 3 - “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” This is the first criteria of meeting with the Lord and knowing him.
  • Desire and Earnestly seek the baptism of the Holy Ghost: He said this is a crucial issue in our church, that only few believe of the Holy Ghost in speaking in unknown tongues. He said you need to desire the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
  • Execute the Great Commission - Evangelism: He said only few men of God or prophets could evangelise and this is also paramount in working out our salvation as the scriptures says, ‘Go into the world and make disciples for me.’
  • Develop and have a personal relationship with Christ.
  • Read, study and meditate on the word of God.
  • Be full of Good works and charitable deedsEngaging fasting, prayer and praise.
