Coming To Your Senses - Oluseyi Oluyemi

At last he came to his senses and said, ‘all my father’s hired workers have more than they can eat, and here I am about to starve!

The story talks about the prodigal son who thought it sensible to collect his rights of his father’s inheritance and he went away squandering it all. He found himself in a situation worse than death but one day he came to his senses and went back home.

Most times we believe we are not accountable to anyone thereby living our lives the way we want.  The system of the world has eaten deep into the hearts of many that they see it right and acceptable to live life as they feel. With so much provision from our heavenly father, we still run after shadows. The bible says in Eph 1:3 that ‘blessed be the God and father of our lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ’. If we knew how much of the heavenly investment we carry, we won’t run after shadows anymore. We must not wait until the devil whips us before we run back to the father because all that we can ever need is in God.

Samson was a man of great substance who enjoyed privileges from God but he was misled and by the time he came back to his senses things already got worse. We don’t need to wait till opportunities are over before coming back to him who knows and owns us. Rev 3:20 says “behold I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me’’. Grace is still available for as many as would realize their fault and retrace their steps back to the creator.
